“Across 10 tracks, six of them originals, Sullivan and his crack band of musical confederates move across a dizzying landscape of sound – from rockabilly, to jump blues, to funk.
Perhaps best of all is Sullivan’s take on the Hank Thompson classic “He’s Got a Way with Women.” Singing with a sad majesty, Sullivan makes the most of the song’s smart turn of phrase -- “and he just got away with mine.
Take Your Hand Off My Soul” downshifts into a more contemplative vibe, with Longman offering a reverie-filled riff. Sullivan rises to the occasion, growling and snapping like Bobby “Blue” Bland in a quieter song structure that inevitably becomes a feature for the vocalist.”

A Hint of Spring
Well, we've got the crazy winter weather thing going again, up here in The Great White North.
I had the motorbike out for the "last ride" just after Christmas, taking advantage of a beautiful day in the low 50s. Of course, the bike was pretty salty by the time I returned home, but the power washer took care of all that. The hour spent cleaning the bike was a fair tradeoff for three hours in the saddle.
Wow, it just occured to me that it may only be another four or five weeks until I roll the Kawasaki out of the garage for the season. Rollout for 2012 and 2011 were both in the third week of March, so I'm hoping for the same this year.
Come on, Spring!

May 2013
Well, Simon is FINALLY nearing the end of his spoken word project. During March and April, he listened to all archive tracks and clips for the album, and began drafting out a final recording schedule. The final result will be a blend of new and old material, then mixed-down and processed using some of the latest software.
Preview tracks will be posted here on Simon's site toward the end of May.
February 2013
Simon is happy to report good and steady progress being made on the songs he mentioned in his last blog post.
In addition to finishing and revising work previously in-progress, Simon is writing several new songs, in various genres.
Two songs for the country album are now complete.
December 2012
Well, things are heating up in the recording department. In addition to recording the country tunes, Simon is also re-vamping some blues and funky-blues songs from the mid-1990s. And, as if that wasn't enough to keep him busy, he is putting the finishing touches on a collection of electronic instrumentals, AND a spoken word album.
Shortly after Christmas, Simon will start to post preview tracks from his various projects.
2013 is going to be a bumper year for new releases, so stay tuned!
October 2012
Yes! Recording has begun on Simon's upcoming country album. Simon recently joined forces with Lee Batchelor, keys player from the Groovin' project, and the two will produce a very rootsy, country and country-blues album.
The first song, Blues Stay Away From Me, has now been completed and mixed. Please give it a listen and let Simon know what you think.
